Solve

Note from John: "On the scroll, we tried to make the words resemble a chess piece (King) as a nod towards The Count of Monte Cristo’s “kings to you”. The first team to solve the scroll (”smith mob”) realized this and used it to point them to The Count of Monte Cristo.”

You need to pull up the movie script for The Count of Monte Cristo. Each of the words from the scroll is in the movie script exactly once. Search for that word, then shift forward (or backward) the number of words indicated by the number after the word.

Doing so produces a set of numbers:

BAND 8           -> For (**4**)
OATH -14         -> Won (**1**)
EXISTENCE -12    -> Oh (**0**)

BRIDE -6         -> To (2)
						X
EQUALS 1         -> Three (3)
-----------------------------
						2 x 3 = **6**

IGNORANT 6       -> Three (3)
						X
TRANSIT 11       -> Three (3)
-----------------------------
						3 x 3 = **9**

IMPRESSION -18   -> Four (**4**)
PURPOSE 6        -> Seven (**7**)
NOTICE -11       -> Two (**2**)
POSSIBILITIES 17 -> One (**1**)
CHESS 10         -> One (**1**)
STOLEN -9        -> One (**1**)

WEALTHIER -11    -> Eight (**8**)

HUMILIATED -9    -> Three (3)
						X
HANDLED -4       -> Three (3)
-----------------------------
						3 x 3 = **9**

CLIFF 2          -> Three (**3**)
SPENT -4         -> Five (**5**)
COMPARED -10     -> One (**1**)

Final numbers:
**41069472111889351**

These needs to be converted to coordinates:

41.069472º -111.889351º

These coordinates land at a spot off the Adams Canyon Trail in Layton

At a certain point on the trail, you veer off a short side path, and that leads to the metal QR code attached to a fallen tree

QR Question

What was the name of the trail?

Answer: Adam’s Canyon Trail

Note: The trail name is really “Adams Canyon” but the accepted answer was “Adam’s Canyon” with an apostrophe. AllTrails and some Google search results have it incorrectly listed as “Adam’s”.
